Retired Lt. Col. James Talmadge Wilcoxson, 95, of Duncan, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in Duncan, from heart disease.

Our country has lost another hero of the “Greatest Generation” of World War II.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Kent Strahan officiating, assisted by Jack Graves. Burial with military honors will be in Marlow Cemetery.

Bearers will be E5 James T. Wilcoxson II, Johnnie “Bubba” Wilcoxson Jr., Leston Patton, Donald Wilcoxson, Jamie Lathrop and Rick Mahaffey.

Honorary bearers are Don McKenzie, Macel Bradford, Lonnie Ezell, Warren Kilgore and Bill Cherry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 Northeast 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104 for heart disease, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks for the many years of care and compassion to Dr. Rosemary Bellino and Dr. Robert Gose of Lawton and their staffs, and Dr. Terry and Dorothy Hampton, DMD, of Marlow. Also, our sincere appreciation to the staff of Wilkins Nursing Center, Autumn Light Hospice and Duncan Regional Home Health Care.
