Waurika cagers land on all-league clubs

WAURIKA —
Although their seasons officially ended two weeks ago, four members of Waurika’s basketball program get a couple more opportunities to play some hoops, after they were named to two post-season all-conference clubs or all-star teams.
Tuesday night, the Southern 8 Conference held its annual All-Star Games, which pit members of the all-conference and all-star teams selected by league coaches.
Waurika seniors Brittany Elkins and Kacee Daily were on the court for the girls’ game in Tipton, while junior Levi Henderson and senior Sean Hall played in the boys’ all-star contest.
Elkins was named to the Southern 8 first team, after she averaged 21.7 points per game in her fourth season as a Lady Eagles starter.
Daily, who averaged 6.8 ppg game, was selected as an All-Star Game player, while senior Micah Smith as given honorable mention on the all-conference team.
After leading the Eagles in scoring (13 ppg) and rebounding (9 rpg), Henderson was named to the All-Southern 8 first team.
Senior Hall, who averaged 7 ppg and led the Eagles in assists, was an honorable mention pick on the all-league squad.
The Oil Field Conference also chose its all-conference team recently, with Henderson being named to the boys’ first team and Hall receiving honorable mention.
Oil Field coaches also named Elkins and Daily to the all-league first team, while Smith and sophomore DaVida England received honorable mention.
The Oil Field All-Star Games will be held Tuesday, March 10, at Bray-Doyle High School.
Full rosters for the Oil Field games will be released this week.
