Waurika News-Democrat
WAURIKA —
Area artists can enter their work in the Waurika Juried Art Show, Sunday through Thursday, Oct. 29, at the historic Rock Island Depot.
The event, co-sponsored by the Waurika Public Library and the Waurika Sorosis Club, will feature three divisions: Professional, Amateur and Junior. Prizes will be awarded by division, as well as having two grand prize awards for Best of Show and People’s Choice.
“We are looking forward to again hosting the annual event that was started many years ago in Waurika by town citizens who were interested in promoting the arts,” said Librarian Cathy Dumas. “We invite all participating artists and residents to come to a reception at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 25th, to meet the artists and view the entries.
“Our co-hosts for the event, the Waurika Sorosis Club will host the reception. Coffee, tea and cookies will be served to attendees.”
Category awards for Professional, Amateur and Junior entries will be awarded, with $100 prizes and ribbons awarded for first place, $50 prizes and ribbons awarded for second and $25 prizes and ribbons awarded for third. The Junior division is for students up to grade 12.
Entry fees are: Adults — $10 per entry or $35 for unlimited entries; Junior — $3 per entry or $10 for unlimited entries. Deadline for entries is Friday.
